On Thursday, August 27, 2015, the Dover Area School District received notice of a lawsuit stemming from the actions of a former employee of the school system. To date, the Dover Area School District has complied with all requests and is working jointly with the CGA Law Firm and The Glatfelter Agency to review the lawsuit. Please know the Dover Area School District takes very seriously the safety and well-being of all our children. The District complies with all state and district protocols to ensure our staff is fully trained and adhering to these expectations.

CAPE Test Date
Dr. Mike McGough will be administering the CAPE test at LIU’s Central Office in New Oxford on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Please note that payment is being required with registration. Waiting for payment has delayed returning test results in a timely manner.
The CAPE assessment has been recognized by LEA’s within the region as an alternative assessment that can be used to document that any Title I-funded paraprofessional is “highly qualified” under the requirements of NCLB.
All registrations should be returned to CAPE, NOT LIU, at the address listed on the form found here.

The most recent changes came to us through Act 153 of 2014, which focuses on criminal background checks and impacts everyone employed, substituting or volunteering in a school district, effective immediately.

The PA Legislature has amended the Child Protective Services Law numerous times over the past year. The most recent changes came to us through Act 153 of 2014 which focuses on criminal background checks and impacts everyone employed, substituting or volunteering in a school district, effective immediately. Please review each of the links below for the appropriate information.
The Dover Area School District has extended the internal deadline date from August 1, 2015 to October 15, 2015 for those employees hired prior to the year 2012 to complete and submit their required clearances to the Human Resources Department. Please note; it is the obligation of each individual to accept the financial responsibility to obtain and submit all three (3) clearances to the district as required. When employees obtain their new clearances, they should submit them to the attention of Mrs. Heather Thomas – Payroll Coordinator/HR Secretary at the district Administration Building. Please understand, this is a state mandate and as such requirements are placed on the district if documents are not provided by the deadline.
