The district recognizes the importance of taking every possible preventative measure to keep children safe.  We also value parental visibility and their support within our school buildings.  Therefore, parents and guardians who have obtained volunteer status for the current school year may visit their child in the cafeteria during their assigned lunch period.  To ensure a safe and positive school environment for all students, your adherence to the following guidelines is expected and appreciated.*

We have volunteer packets available in our office for anyone that would like to volunteer in the classroom, volunteer in the library, or help at our many PTO events.

Recently, district administration concluded a series of budget presentations at PTO Meetings. A portion of the presentation asked participants to respond to a series of eight (8) questions, one which included the question how do you feel about the current school configurations.

We, meaning the district, have no position on reconfiguring our schools. Since our schools went K-6, there has always been a concern about having a wide age range in our elementary schools, especially since the original elementary school configuration was K-4. Part of the PTO visit and conversation was to confirm or not if that still exists. However, that doesn't mean that change(s) will occur now or in the future.

In the event that district administration and the board would consider this important decision, we would ensure student, staff, and community input.

Conclusions to the PTO Budget Meetings

Over the past two months, we had the opportunity to visit with PTO’s and conduct a budget activity. Overall, we had  96 people in attendance, including numerous board members and all school administrators. Part of the activity included responses to eight (8) questions. Attached are the conclusions for each question.

Dover Area School District: Pennsylvania School Performance Profiles (SPP)

The Pennsylvania School Performance Profiles (SPP) for the Dover Area School District were released earlier this month. The SPP is an integral part of the Educator Effectiveness System, both teacher and principal evaluation.  As an online site, the SPP provides a school level academic score for all public schools, including charter and cyber charter schools, and full-time comprehensive career and technical centers. The SPP offers for districts/schools a means to communicate performance results to you and assist the DASD in aligning and focusing resources for continuous improvement.

Please take time to review your child’s school performance

If you have further questions regarding the School Performance Profile, please contact Ms. Jamy Jackson at
