SAFETY PROCEDURES FOR PARENT/GUARDIAN LUNCHTIME VISITS

The district recognizes the importance of taking every possible preventative measure to keep children safe.  We also value parental visibility and their support within our school buildings.  Therefore, parents and guardians who have obtained volunteer status for the current school year may visit their child in the cafeteria during their assigned lunch period.  To ensure a safe and positive school environment for all students, your adherence to the following guidelines is expected and appreciated.*

Daily Announcements

Washington Township and
Dover Area School District

On July 2, 2014, the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) made a determination that the petition filed by the residents of Washington Township has educational merit as to whether or not to remove Washington Township from the Dover Area School District. There have been no further decisions made in regard to this matter.  This request is now moving onto the State Board of Education for further review and analysis.  The State Board is not bound by this recent decision and will more than likely hold hearings on the petition as they have in most of these matters across the state.  Besides the educational merit portion of the petition, the State Board takes into consideration all other elements of this move (financial impact, community concerns, etc.).  There is no set timeline for the State Board to make a decision. All students, including those located in Washington Township, will continue to receive their education in the Dover Area School District for the 2014-2015 academic year.

Attention Parents:
Busing Policy Change

Please remember that kindergarten students must be met by a parent or guardian (or a family appointed adult) at their bus stop each day. If no one is there to meet the kindergarten student, the bus driver will not allow the student to depart from the bus. The student will be taken back to their school for parent or guardian pick-up.
